La région de taches solaires AR12173 a produit une éruption solaire M5.1, qui a débuté à 04h39 et a culminé à 04h58 pour se terminer à 05h19. Une CME dirigé à la limite de la terre semble probable en tout cas une alerte R2 (modéré) a été émise, une estimation de sa vélocité a été établi à 638km/s.
